What You Told Us

…and what we’re doing about it.

BBefore we get into it, thank you to everyone who came out. We were expecting around 30 and ended up with well over 50 people and 15 teams, making for an incredibly fun night!

Pretty much everyone rated the night quite high, and most of you said you were already texting friends about the next one. A lot of you also told us you would change nothing, which is great to hear, but the comments that did ask for a change mostly pointed at speed.

Host and Quiz 4.6

It looks like we kind of hit the nail on the head with the quiz itself. The pacing was good, you could hear the questions, the categories went over well and the difficulty landed just about right for most of you. On scoring, a few of you suggested a second scorer or separate answer sheets, and we are looking at both so that you are not waiting around between rounds.

We also want every trivia night to use themes, and you gave us plenty to work with. The most requested was more current pop culture for the younger players, followed by music rounds like guess the song and rounds where every answer shares something like a colour or a number. We are taking all of them into consideration and will start working them in as soon as we can.

Venue 4.6

You all obviously love The Palm and really enjoyed the food and drink, but ordering and service was the lowest score of the night. It was hard to catch a waiter while teams were answering (Palm), and there was some confusion over which beers were included (Us). We have passed all of this over to The Palm, and they are grateful for such candid feedback. On our side, we will be making certain that every venue we work with understands the workload that a Bia & Brains night brings for their staff, so that you are getting the food, beer and drinks you want without missing a question.

You loved what you got for your money and we want to continue delivering a quality experience along with great prizes. That’s why we asked what you would be willing to pay for future events. Ticket prices will vary as we work with each venue, but bear in mind that every extra dong goes into giving you a brilliant night and prizes worth fighting for. We will always work with venues on donations and discounts to stretch it further. We hear that you want more and we will do our best to deliver it, so we are glad that most of you who responded are okay with a higher ticket price when it comes with more value.

Format 4, 7, 2.5

Most of you who answered are happy with the team cap of 4, so that is staying. We like it because it keeps things unbelievably competitive, and with better prizes on the line you just don’t want that crazy large team dominating the night. We know that means not everybody can play with all of their mates, but teams of 4 keep everybody on edge, which is what makes for a fun evening.

On start time, you want it a little earlier, so we are planning to open doors at 6 and start trivia at 7. Length came out pretty even across 2, 2.5 and 3 hours, so we are going to aim for 2.5, which also gives us more time for marking and for some more interesting rounds.
